Water is the most precious resource we have and guess what??? Plants need it to survive but not in the quantity that we think! This presentation will cover how turfgrass management practices influence water requirements as well as how in the world did we figure out how much water a turfgrass plant actually needs? Attendees will walk away with an understanding of turfgrass water requirements and how to figure those requirements out based on time of year. Session Title:   TDA CEU Session: Common Turfgrass Weeds – Developing BMP’s and Application to Enhance Management

Weeds are the most asked about “pest” of turfgrass. This presentation will cover how to develop an integrated weed management program with the environment and herbicide resistance in mind. Attendees will learn about tough to control weeds, how to develop herbicide programs, how herbicides work as well as how to reduce herbicide resistance.     Turfgrass Specialist for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension

    Dr. Segars currently serves as a state-wide Turfgrass Specialist for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. Her outreach efforts focus on coaching managers on a system of approaches where primary goals are user safety and healthy turfgrass. Her research aims to find solutions that support better turfgrass areas across the socioeconomic spectrum using best management practices for turfgrass health and safety. When she is not watching grass grow, she enjoys the outdoors and spoiling her dog, Winnie.
